Our New Neonatal Ward is Up and Running!

A dream has come true in Katondwe – and one that was truly needed. We’re thrilled to share that in March 2025, our newly built Neonatal Ward officially opened its doors. This is a huge step forward for our patients and the entire hospital team. The need for such a facility has been growing rapidly, especially with the increasing number of births and the importance of caring for both mothers and their newborns.

Construction began in August 2024, and from the very beginning we kept our community updated on Facebook and Instagram – showing the progress, the people behind it, and the heart that went into every brick. Today, we can proudly say – it’s working!

While some finishing touches remain – like installing furniture and medical equipment – the ward is already welcoming mothers and babies. Every day, it fills with the quiet cries of newborns and the steady rhythm of care provided by our dedicated sisters. They’ve got their hands full: natural deliveries, C-sections, diagnostics, and around-the-clock patient care – always with compassion and commitment you can’t learn from a textbook. Meanwhile, our trusty crew is hard at work assembling furniture, hanging shelves, and getting everything just right – to make sure the space is safe and welcoming for every new life that enters it. This ward is more than just
a building – it’s a place of hope and new beginnings.
