Summary of 2021

The end of the year is a time to sum up all the things we have done with our hands and your support. This is also the time to make plans for the coming months.

Our achievements

The Katondwe Mission Hospital has changed over the course of this year. Our connection to the power grid was an important milestone. Now, we have diversified power sources: the power grid, solar panels and a power generator, so we have electricity around the clock.

Thus, we can use more specialised equipment and extend the range of our diagnostic procedures.

We managed to install air conditioning in the pharmacy, laboratory and operating theatre. It is essential, given the hot weather prevailing in Katondwe.

A part of the hospital has a connection to the source of running water. Even though it is not enough to meet our needs, it is already a big improvement.

We are happy to provide our patients with three meals a day.

With the money received from MIVA Poland, we purchased wheelchairs and donated them to those in need throughout the district. We are glad that many people with disabilities can now move around the area.

Our plans

We are so happy, as more medical personnel arrive at the Katondwe Mission Hospital. Unfortunately, there are still too few employees to meet the required standard. Providing accommodation for the staff will probably let us change the situation. We don't have such facilities now. There are only villages with thatched huts around the hospital, with no access to water or electricity. We believe to solve this problem soon.

We hope that thanks to the kind-hearted people, we will manage to complete the biggest investment of the Katondwe Mission Hospital – a radiology block with a stationary X-ray machine.

We have achieved so much this year! The year 2022 brings us further opportunities.
