Effects of heavy rainfalls

The past few hours confronted us with the severe power of mother nature at the Katondwe Mission Hospital. Once again, it reminded the Katondwe community about its dangerous and destructive power. Also, we have seen how powerless people are in such moments.

Tropical storms have reached us. Whenever they strike with heavy rains and gusty winds, they bring forth floods and damage to the local infrastructure; they force people to leave their homes and move to safer places.

This time the losses were not immense. “We were lucky this time”, we thought to ourselves while removing damage and saw one uprooted and splintered tree after the other.

We are thankful for the Divine protection over us!
