July and the beginning of August was a truly special time at Katondwe Mission Hospital. We were privileged to welcome two outstanding medical specialists to our team – Dr. Monika Krzyżanowska, anesthesiologist and Dr. Joanna Niemunis-Sawicka, radiologist. Both arrived with what is most valuable in medicine: knowledge, experience, and a genuine willingness to help.From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank Dr. Monika Krzyżanowska and Dr. Joanna Niemunis-Sawicka for their time, dedication, professionalism, and kindness.

We have just completed an incredibly intensive week of work with an exceptional team – anesthesiologist Dr. Sara and orthopedic surgeons from Afrquia Foundation Dr. Szymon, Dr. Andrzej, and Dr. Tomasz. From early morning until late in the evening, they worked tirelessly in the operating theatre, providing care to those who needed it most.

They gave our patients their time, knowledge, expertise, support, and, above all, their hearts.

In June, we had the great pleasure of welcoming radiologist Kajetan Charzewski to the hospital in Katondwe. With his knowledge, experience, and commitment, he provided tremendous support to the team in their daily work in radiology.

In recent days, fire safety training was conducted with the participation of hospital staff. The purpose of the training was to remind participants of safety procedures, proper responses in emergency situations, and to raise awareness about protecting the lives and health of patients and staff.

A hospital clean-up day was also held under the slogan “Keep Katondwe Clean.”

We would like to thank the Friends of Katondwe for their presence, support, and belief in this project. It is thanks to you that this construction is truly becoming a reality.

Although the beginnings were difficult due to the rocky ground, today we can clearly see the results of the enormous work carried out on site. Proper housing conditions mean not only greater comfort of living, but also real support for the medical team who care for the health of patients every single day.

Polio campaign – poster. In April, vaccinations were carried out alongside educational activities aimed at raising community awareness about the importance of immunization. Our nurses went door-to-door in nearby villages, speaking with families, explaining the value of prevention, and addressing questions about vaccine safety.

This direct outreach helped reach many people and encouraged participation in the vaccination program.

These are extraordinary people – professionals who come here not out of obligation, but from the need of the heart. They see how much this help is needed and choose to dedicate their time, energy, and skills to truly change lives of uor patients.
As always, they have brought with them commitment, experience, and a readiness to act. From the very first moments, they are working at full capacity. Their days begin early in the morning and end late in the evening.

This is a very important project. Our goal is to create decent living and working conditions for those who care for the health of the local community every day.

The initial work has already begun, although we are facing challenges from the very start. The ground has proven to be difficult and rocky, which is causing the first technical problems and requires additional effort from our team.

The beginning of April at the hospital in Katondwe was a very intense time for all of us. For several days, our team was joined by Dr Maciej Skarżyński, who was drawn into the daily life of our hospital almost from the very first moments of his stay.

May this time will be without rush – with family and a moment of real rest.
And may spring simply bring a bit of new energy.
