At the Katondwe Mission Hospital, every day brings new challenges. Our reality is full of very tough moments, when we feel powerless, intertwined with the times that give us great satisfaction from the help we have provided. It is a great joy and a commitment for the future. We want to provide our patients with constant care of the highest possible standard and to constantly improve the conditions in the Hospital. Usually, the reality of life in Africa, in Zambia, is very different from the standards and convenience we know. Nevertheless, we make sure to end each day with a sense of a job well done and gratitude for all the good that has occurred. Of course, it would not be possible without the support of our Donors, for which we are very grateful.

Though it's hard to believe, 2023 is slowly coming to an end. Time passes quickly, especially here in Katondwe, where there is always plenty of work to do and the number of people in need is constantly increasing. The end of this year is extremely intense for us, but we keep in mind that it is most importantly a time of joyful waiting for Christmas. Amidst all our busy activities we take a moment to reflect and briefly summarize this year.

Christmas is near. It’s a time of miracles, hopes and wishes. We also have many plans on how to improve our hospital and one of these big dreams is coming true as the building of a radiology block has jus started! This is wonderful and long awaited news for the staff and patients of the Katondwe Hospital.

We always look forward to the visits of guests to Katondwe, but our latest meeting was particularly anticipated by both our hospital staff and patients. In November we were hosting specialists from Poland, who came to us as part of an orthopedic project. It was a brief visit that lasted only two days, though it was an extremely intense time!

Our main activity in Katondwe is of course treating our patients, but we also focus on education. This includes implementing various projects in the field of preventive health care and welcoming students for internships. Such initiatives are fruitful for both students and our hospital.

Our hospital in Katondwe could not work without the help of many people of good will. Every day we receive a great support from Poland and from all around the world. These are the smallest gestures, words of encouragement, kind thoughts and prayers, but also financial help that reaches us through befriended companies, foundations and also directly from contributors.

We’ve had an intense and demanding, but also extremely fruitful time lately. Our hospital is constantly developing and we are treating more and more patients. Furthermore many preventive programs and educational projects are implemented. All this hard, but very satisfying and, above all, extremely necessary work is performed by the hospital staff in Katondwe.

We are very happy because we've managed to buy a new water tank with a capacity of 5,000 liters. The old one served us for many years, but - unfortunately - it started to leak and we cannot afford to lose water under any circumstances.
Without water, our facility would not be able to function and provide appropriate hygienic conditions for the medical staff and our patients.
