Areas around the rivers are not the safest places here. Simple, everyday activities like washing clothes or fishing may result in serious injuries or even death. Wild animal attacks are a frequent occurrence, and Katondwe Mission Hospital admits victims not only from our closest area.

Nezi came to us from Mozambique. This 34 years old woman was attacked by a crocodile just as she was washing clothes. Her injuries were very serious. During the surgery we had to amputate her right arm below the elbow.

Luckily, we were able to connect the damaged bone in her left hand with a locking plate. Now, all we can do is wait and monitor bone adhesion. There is no doubt that Nezi will require rehabilitation, but we strongly believe that this hand will be functional.
